MILITARY COUP IN BURKINA FASO

The group calling itself the "Patriotic Movement for Liberation and Restoration (MPSR)" staged a coup. On behalf of the MPSR, Captain Kader Ouedraogo read the coup statement on the state television RTBD.

President Roch Christian Kabore's party announced an assassination attempt on Kabore and called for mobilization to foil the coup. 

In a handwritten letter addressed to the new junta administration in the country, Kabore wrote that after the events that took place since Sunday, he decided to resign from all his duties for the best interest of the society.
