Many heads of state and government from across the continent attended the oath ceremony held at the Union Buildings in the executive capital, Pretoria. Former presidents of South Africa Thabo Mbeki and Kgalema Mothlanthe were also present at the ceremony.


In his speech at the ceremony, Ramaphosa reminded that South Africans did not give any party the authority to govern alone in the May 29 general election and said, "With their votes, they clearly demonstrated that they want the basic needs of a comfortable, happy, healthy and safe life. With their votes, sufficient food, clean water, always accessible electricity They showed what they wanted." said.Stating that they heard the demands of South Africans for change and that they will fulfill these demands, Ramaphosa said,

"I, Cyril Ramaphosa, in the presence of everyone gathered here, with full awareness of the high duty I undertake as the President of South Africa, declare that I will remain loyal to the Republic of South Africa, and that I will always obey and observe the constitution and all the laws of the republic." I solemnly and sincerely vow to support and sustain it." He started his duty by saying.
